Introduction to the Masters in Nursing

The Faculty of Allied Health, Infortec International Technologies offers the Masters in Nursing degree program in affiliation with the Lincoln University College. The Faculty of Allied Health, Infortec International Technologies offers the Masters in Nursing degree program in affiliation with Lincoln University College. This work-based, self-financing programme is designed to produce professionally qualified nurses who are well equipped to meet the growing demands of healthcare both nationally and internationally.

This programme is specially designed for the academic and professional development of individuals already involved in nursing, healthcare, and related clinical or educational fields in Sri Lanka and abroad. Registered nurses, nurse educators, clinical instructors, hospital administrators, and other healthcare professionals will benefit from this programme by enhancing their knowledge, practical skills, and leadership abilities.

The Masters in Nursing programme offers specialization in areas such as Medical-Surgical Nursing, Pediatric Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, and Nursing Education. These specializations focus on equipping students with advanced clinical competencies, research skills, and the professional expertise necessary to provide high-quality care, lead healthcare teams, and contribute to the education and training of future nurses.

Objectives of the Masters in Nursing

The Master of Nursing programme aims to develop highly skilled and professionally competent nurses equipped to meet the evolving demands of modern healthcare systems. It focuses on enhancing advanced clinical knowledge, leadership capabilities, research competence, and educational expertise, enabling graduates to deliver high-quality patient care, contribute to healthcare innovation, and take on leadership roles both locally and internationally.

Duration of the Programme

The programme is conducted over a period of two academic years, combining structured coursework, practical learning, research, and continuous assessments.

Programme Details

This work-based, self-financing programme integrates theoretical knowledge with practical application through assignments, case studies, and a research component. Students can specialize in areas such as Medical-Surgical Nursing, Pediatric Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, and Nursing Education. The curriculum is delivered by experienced professors, medical doctors, and industry professionals. In addition, the programme includes Professional ICT and English courses to enhance communication skills and technological competence required in modern healthcare environments. Graduates will be well-prepared for diverse career opportunities both in Sri Lanka and internationally.

Admission Requirements:

Applicants must be government-registered nurses who have successfully completed a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from a recognized institution. In addition, candidates should possess a minimum of five years of clinical experience in the nursing or healthcare field.

Application Procedure

Applicants who meet the admission requirements for the Master of Nursing programme may submit a duly completed application form issued by the Faculty when the programme is announced through print, electronic media, social media, or the campus website. The completed application must be accompanied by the prescribed processing fee and certified copies of relevant documents, including the birth certificate, academic and professional qualifications, and other required supporting materials. All applications are initially reviewed by the Programme Coordinator and/or a Faculty-appointed panel, and final admission decisions are made by the Faculty.

The programme is designed to meet international academic standards and is delivered in collaboration with experienced professionals in the healthcare field.
